Why does it hurt so bad?
Whether it's the goofy antics, the comforting presence, or the unconditional love, our pets leave paw prints on our hearts that last forever.
Loss is hard. If you've lost someone you love, you probably feel empty, weighed down by pain and sorrow.
The bond that we share with our pets is one like no other: pure, simple, and filled with unconditional love. And when we lose them, it affects us in a profound way. Many people feel ashamed to address and express their grief when their beloved pets pass because so many people in their lives don't understand or experience the joy of pet companionship. Allowing yourself to grieve your loss and not run away from your feelings simply because you think society will shame you and tell you your companion was "just a pet."
when grief comes knocking, we invite grief in, acknowledge it, and do the work to get through it. She reminds us that, no matter where we are in our grief cycle, that’s where we are supposed to be. We should continue to honor all the chapters we had with our pet because to feel loss means that we loved.
Trying to ignore your pain or keep it from surfacing will only make it worse in the long run. For real healing, it is necessary to face your grief and actively deal with it. By expressing your grief, you'll likely need less time to heal than if you withhold or “bottle up” your feelings. Write about your feelings and talk about them with others who are sympathetic to your loss.
Please join us if you are feeling lost, isolated, or just want to be among others who understand.
Even though you may feel that your friends and family members don’t understand how much you are grieving the loss of a pet, many other people in the world get it. While you may feel disappointed by the reaction of your inner circle of friends, you can expand your friend group by participating in Pandora's Hope Pet Loss Circle
Our program offers support for people at all stages of mourning a beloved pet. It's a a place to learn about grief and tools to facilitate healing, in addition to the community of others missing a dear animal companion.
Our Support Circle provides community, and additional grief education for those who are learning to manage the ebb and flow of grief and navigate their lives after the loss of a beloved pet.

It was helpful you put into words things which do not help with our rituals and the final goodbye. I acknowledge I’ve been feeling all of those emotions and then feel them again haha. It’s a process. Relieved was perhaps the one I have not gotten to yet. I guess there is relief one is no longer in pain. Thank you!!! ♡
